WEDNESDAY: GOV. MALLOY SPEAKS TO STUDENTS ON DISABILITY ISSUES; GIVES REMARKS AT EDUCATION REFORM EVENT; KEYNOTES DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY DINNER
(HARTFORD, CT) – On Wednesday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will speak to students in grades five through nine at The Windward School in White Plains, New York, about his experience with dyslexia and how it inspired him to work towards achievement. His speech is part of the school’s “Dream Big: Your Dreams are Your Future” program, designed to help students learn from individuals who overcame adverse circumstances. The Windward School is a co-educational independent day school that exclusively serves children with language-based learning disabilities.
Later, Governor Malloy will give remarks at an event in Hartford hosted by the Connecticut Council for Education Reform, where the organization will be previewing a three-part documentary series exploring the educational issues and solutions needed in Connecticut to close the state’s achievement gap.
At night, the Governor will give the keynote address at the 2012 Joint Dinner of the Design and Construction Industry in Rocky Hill, where he will speak about the future of the industry in the state and his efforts to improve the business climate in Connecticut in order to promote job creation.
