Donate Pantry Goods to Bethel Library and Get More than a Good Feeling in Return

Do you have a little extra in your pantry?  Would you like to give some of your surplus to people in need?  Bonus time!!  For every item donated, up to $2 in fines will be waived when Bethel Library materials are returned in good condition.  Read on for a list of suggested items…

Even if you don’t owe any fines, your generosity is needed and will be greatly appreciated.  For the next several weeks, the Library is partnering with the Quota Club of Candlewood Valley for “Quota Cares Month” – let’s work together to help our neighbors in need!

It’s easy and convenient to help.  From now until March 23, we invite you to make donations of practical, nonperishable items right here at the Library.  There will be a bin located inside on the main level, where you can bring your donations during Library hours.  Quota will collect and distribute the donations to Brotherhood In Action of Bethel by March 31.

Quota suggests thinking “Outside the Box” with these donation ideas:

  • “Pasta Night” Spaghetti sauce, box of pasta, can of fruit for dessert.
  • “Chili Night” 2-3 cans of beans, packet of chili mix seasoning, can of diced tomatoes, cornbread mix.
  • “Just for Kids” Box of mac ‘n cheese, box of jello or pudding, juice boxes.
  • “Start the Day with Breakfast” Hot and cold cereals, pancake mix, syrup, can of juice.
  • “Protein Packed” Cans of tuna, chicken, or ham, bean soup mixes.
  • “Pass the Ketchup” Mayo, mustard, salad dressings, other condiments.
  • “Health & Beauty” Shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, hand soaps.
  • “Clean-Up Time” Dish and laundry detergents, disinfecting wipes
  • “Paper Products” (Food stamps don’t cover these!) Toilet paper, paper towels, napkins.

PLEASE NOTE: Expiration dates for food items must be after May 2015.  Amnesty does not apply to fees for lost or damaged materials.

For more information, stop by at our Circulation Desk or call 203-794-8756 ext. 3.  See you at the Library!
