Ann’s Place Appoints New Board Member

The Board of Directors of Ann’s Place is pleased to announce the appointment of Paula Boa Sousa to its Board. 

Paula Boa Sousa is a principal with the firm Collins Hannafin, P.C, where she practices in the areas of Estate Planning, Wills, Trusts, Probate, and Elder Law.

Attorney Sousa is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Fairfield University.  She earned her Juris Doctor, with a Tax Law Certificate, from the University of Connecticut School of Law, and is admitted to practice in the State of Connecticut.  Prior work experience includes internships at the Danbury Probate Court and in the chambers of Magistrate Judge Joan Glazer Margolis at the New Haven Federal District Courthouse.

In September 2012, Attorney Sousa was elected Secretary of the Elder Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association.  She served in that capacity until 2014, when she began her current role as Treasurer.  She has also served as member of the section’s Legislative Committee since November 2010.

Attorney Sousa is a member of the Estates and Probate and Elder Law sections of the Connecticut Bar Association, the Western Connecticut Estate and Tax Planning Council, and the Portuguese Cultural Center in Danbury.  Attorney Sousa is a past member of the Board of Directors of Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut.

Attorney Sousa is fluent in Portuguese and conversant in Spanish. She is a life-long resident of Danbury and currently resides there with her family.
