A First Birthday of Giving for Danbury Residents

Baby’s First Birthday Inspires Gift to Danbury Hospital’s Praxair Cancer Center

A child's first birthday is a joyous milestone in every parent's life, but for Danbury residents Meghan and Joseph Stabile, their son Gavin's first birthday party presented an extra opportunity for celebration.

The Stabiles decided their son's party would serve not only as a birthday bash but also as an expression of gratitude for care that a family member is receiving at the Praxair Cancer Center. In lieu of buying party favors, the Stabiles chose to donate to the Praxair Cancer Center in Gavin's name. They also asked friends and family to contribute in lieu of birthday gifts, raising a total of $100.

"The Stabile family's thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated," said Chief Development Officer Grace Linhard. "Their generosity in Gavin's name will help us continue to provide the community with world-class patient and family programs and services at the Praxair Cancer Center."

Gavin Stabile has now been inducted as a member of the Western Connecticut Health Network Kids Care Club, a philanthropic organization for children and young adults under the age of 18. About Kids Care Club

The Kids Care Club at Western Connecticut Health Network  encourages children under the age of 18 to make donations in support of pediatric programs and services at Danbury Hospital and/or New Milford Hospital. Donations help purchase toys, videos/movies, video games and systems, and more to make children’s hospital stays more comfortable. Children raise funds in many ways, including: asking friends and family for donations; organizing penny drives, lemonade stands, or other events; raising funds in lieu of birthday gifts; or donating a portion of their allowance.
