BY FAMILIES NETWORK OF WESTERN CT

Annual award recognizes volunteer who demonstrates extraordinary effort, kindness and devotion

Joel Levitt was recognized for his superior volunteer efforts by the Families Network of Western CT at their annual Joy Luncheon.  The Jeannie C. Beck Above and Beyond Award is given to the volunteer who demonstrates extraordinary effort, kindness and devotion to Families Network’s child abuse prevention efforts. The luncheon, held in honor of Nan and Dr. Robert Joy, recognizes the outstanding efforts of the organization’s volunteers.

Phyllis Boughton, wife of Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, and the Honorary Chairwoman of the Joy Luncheon, presented Levitt with the award. “I am so pleased to present Joel with this year’s award,” said the First Lady of Danbury. “Joel is an excellent example of the extraordinary volunteers who work so hard and give so much to Families Network.”

Levitt was recognized for his dedication to growing the “Dads” programs at Families Network.  “In addition to co-facilitating the fathers’ group, Joel is always among the first to volunteer to assist us at community events in hopes of engaging more dads and informing them about the parenting programs at Families Network,” said Susan Giglio, Executive Director of Families Network of Western CT, Inc.

Families Network of Western CT, Inc., is dedicated to preventing child abuse before it starts by providing such support services as home visitation, parent education, parenting groups and support groups to families in Danbury and the surrounding towns, free of charge.
