The Women's Center is Benefiting Charity of Brookfield's Dancing Stars Charity Gala

The Women's Center is honored to be chosen as a benefiting charity of Brookfield's Dancing Stars Charity Gala. The star studded Gala  which will take place at the Amber Room on September 9, 2016, 7:00 p.m, is hosted by Fred Astaire Dance Studio.

Brookfield’s Dancing Stars Gala is a new fundraising event full of all the fun, glitz and glamour of the hit TV show Dancing with the Stars!  Local Brookfield Celebrities will learn a polished choreographed routine and perform with a professional partner at the Gala in a competition mirroring the television show.  A panel of celebrity judges along with the audience will select the winner who will win the coveted mirror ball trophy and A cash prize to be added to their fundraising efforts for the charity of their choice.

The Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Brookfield will be hosting the evening at the Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury Connecticut from 7 o’clock pm until midnight. The gala will include a VIP cocktail reception, a sit down gourmet dinner, live and silent auctions, professional performances, and a live band.

The Women's Center shares a heartwarming story about the Star who designated the Women's Center:

Hello, my name is Michael Forrest and I would like to tell you a little about myself. I have a 5 year old daughter who is my world and I strive to do great things with her and for her. Sports is one of my passions, especially football; I play for the semi-pro league out of Danbury called the Western CT Militia. Helping people in need is what I'm great at and that's why I chose to work at Danbury hospital's ER as a tech.

The reason I chose this charity is because growing up I have witnessed friends, family and even my mother being abused and not having a place to go. Having a place like the women's shelter is such a blessing because there are plenty of people who need the help and support of others when there is no one else you can turn to. So if I am able to help put a roof over someone's head or even food on their table I will do whatever it takes.

What I hope to accomplish in the next 6 months is helping others in need, networking with new people, and of course mastering this new dance and just enjoying this experience that I was selected to be a part of.

My partner and I will try and raise the 10,000 dollars and then some, and I believe we can do it with the help from our friends, families, co-workers, and community. Because together we can accomplish anything!
