Monroe Farmers' Market Spicing Things Up This Friday

See what all the hoopla is about!

There's a lot going on at the Monroe Farmers' Market this week (Friday, 3-6 PM) and that's what all the hoopla is about!

Local favorite Sam Blanchette is performing on the gazebo, Binky Patrol will have information on their upcoming "binkathon" and bringtheHoopla brings fun and fitness in the form of hoola hoops! You won't want to miss all this fun set to take place on the Monroe Town Green!

Here's What's New at the Market This Week:

bringtheHoopla puts the fun back into fitness! Come hoop the afternoon away with them at the farmers' market and treat yourself to a shiny new hoop! They custom design and hand-make each hoop with love. They offer enrichment classes and after school programming, adult fitness classes, children's hoop classes and birthday parties at their very own hoop shop opening soon in Shelton. Happy Hoopin'!

Sam Blanchette is a local favorite with a loyal following and his high-energy performance will have you singing along to your favorite Rock, Blues, Jazz, Reggae and Funk tunes as you shop the market.

Representatives from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Connecticut will be at the market to collect your donations of "gently used" clothing and household goods. Help support a worthy cause that embraces the reduce, reuse and recycle philosophy. You will get a tax donation form if you bring used clothes, shoes, books, bedding, housewares, small appliances, and children's toys or games.

Binky Patrol is a national organization that brings handmade blankets to children who are critically ill or traumatized. They're running the Lemonade Stand this week to raise awareness of their organization and collect monetary donations to help purchase fabric and yarn for their blanket-making marathon in the Fall. At a "binkathon" this past April, community volunteers made and collected about 250 blankets in one day! Anyone who has already made a blanket can also drop it off at the farmers' market.
