with Daryl Hawk
Wilton Library Brubeck Room

Please join us on Tuesday, September 23 at 7 pm, as we welcome Dr. Martin von Hildebrand - ethnologist, visionary and leader in efforts to secure indigenous territorial rights and protect the Amazon tropical forest. Dr. Hildebrand will present his talk The Heart of the Amazon: Indigenous People of Columbia and their Role in Conservation. A lifelong Colombian Amazon advocate, Dr. Hildebrand works with indigenous people to restore their traditional land rights and re-educates them on managing and conserving their territories.

As an activist for indigenous rights, cultural and ecological diversity, Dr. Hildebrand led the COAMA program, which won the Right Livelihood Award, 1999, and is founding Director of Fundación Gaia Amazonas. In 2009, he received the SKOLL Award for Social Entrepreneurship. This year, his work will be awarded a 2014 Equator Prize, which recognizes locally sustainable development solutions for people, nature and resilient communities.
Hildebrand will be interviewed by international documentary photographer Daryl Hawk.

The Green Speaker series is co-sponsored by Wilton Go Green and Wilton Library. There is no charge but please register in advance. For more information, call 203-762-3950, x213.
