WCSU Lecture and Workshop to Focus on Women in Business

Corporate trainer to outline roadmap for effective communication

From mastering a professional greeting to asking questions and managing expectations in the workplace, Western Connecticut State University will hold a workshop offering  strategies to excel on the job.

At 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28, the Ancell School of Business Women in Business Society will present “Communicate for Success,” a workshop led by Nicole Weber, an executive coach, corporate trainer and expert on helping people achieve developmental goals and realize their full potential. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the President’s Reception Room 218 of the university’s Classroom Building on the Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury.

The workshop will be based on the book “Great on the Job: What to Say, How to Say it. The Secrets of Getting Ahead,” written by communication expert Jodi Glickman. Weber has partnered with Glickman to present lectures and workshops using the “Great on the Job” strategies. According to the book’s website, “Great on the Job” takes the art of communicating effectively and turns it into a science. Part of this includes a proven methodology that looks at case studies and applies practical strategies.

During the event, Weber will role play with the audience and oversee them as they break into groups. Other strategies will include learning to raise a red flag at work, ask for help and share information effectively.

Weber has held senior human resource positions as well as business roles through her career at Bloomberg, Merrill Lynch, McKinsey and Goldman Sachs. She holds an MBA from the Johnson School at Cornell University.

For anyone planning to attend as a group, it is recommended to call Kathleen Lindenmayer at (203) 837-8511 to reserve a table.
