United Way PresentsFilm screening and discussion at Prospector Theater

Join United Way of Western CT, in partnership with the Prospector Theater, to raise awareness about individuals like Katrina, a group United Way calls ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed).
Paycheck to Paycheck documents daily struggles of a hard-working single mom - a story all too familiar for more than 30,000 individuals  and families in Western CT. 
                              

We hope you can attend the screening and help us kick off our Take Five to Give $5 campaign - an eight-week long campaign to help ALICE families and individuals.

Panel discussion will follow the film screening. Panelists will include: Al Almeida, Command Sergeant Major 94th Training Division, Danbury Ellen Bromley, Director of Social Services for the City of Stamford Dr. William R. Glass, Deputy Superintendent, Danbury Public Schools Valerie Jensen, visionary and founder of The Prospector Theater, Ridgefield
The Heads Up Café will be serving its signature food and beverages the entire night.

About Paycheck to Paycheck                                 

Filmed over the course of one year in Chattanooga, Tenn., Paycheck to Paycheck follows Katrina Gilbert, a 30-year-old mother of three who works as a certified nursing assistant in an extended-care facility while striving to address her own health-care issues. Overworked, underpaid, uninsured and lacking support, she chooses daily between purchasing her own medication and paying for the needs of her three children, which often leaves her struggling to make ends meet. Despite these obstacles, Gilbert works to better her circumstances, applying for college courses that could raise her income. Read more.
