Young Energetic Solutions (YES) Brings Jazz to Danbury

On Wednesday, July 1 starting at 6 pm, two jazz bands will perform at Danbury Music Centre.  Quit Your Day Job, a band based in Danbury, CT, will open the show and will be followed by Echoes, a jazz quartet from Oberlin Conservatory in Oberlin, Ohio.  Admission is free though a $10 donation is suggested.  This jazz evening is sponsored in part by Belimo Aircontrols and is hosted by YES Danbury, a group working to bring young energetic solutions to Danbury’s downtown. This is YES Danbury’s first event.

Echoes is a contemporary jazz quartet comprised of four rising young stars in the jazz world.  Although all members are just over twenty years of age, the group already has a collection of Downbeat, Essentially Ellington, and Berklee School of Music awards between them.  These four musicians have already performed with many of the established jazz greats such as Tim Reis, Lem Adams, Dick Oats, and Abraham Laboriel.  Formed in January of 2014 at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Echoes has performed at Ohio staples like The Bop Stop, Happy Dog, and the WOBC radio station.

The members of Echoes include Max Bessesen on alto saxophone, Matt Dibiase on vibraphone, Chase Kuesel on drums, and Jordan McBride on bass.  Though the group met and is currently based in Oberlin, Ohio, this concert will be close to home for Mr. Kuesel, who grew up in Cos Cob, CT.

Quit Your Day Job, based in Danbury, CT, includes Gannon Ferrell on guitar, Jeff Moro on upright/electric bass, Chris Thomas on drumset, and Josh Paquette on trumpet.  Quit Your Day Job “plays left of center takes on classic songs by everyone from Led Zeppelin to Stevie Wonder. No song is safe from the experimental ears of Quit Your Day Job.”
