Bethel Library Hosts Author Janet Barrett Who Will Speak about Marine Corps Horse

Here’s a literary way to mark Memorial Day, ­join us at the Bethel Public Library to hear about Reckless, the Marine Corps horse! On Monday May 16, 6:30 pm, the Library is pleased to host Connecticut author Janet Barrett when she shares the amazing but true story of the only horse to achieve the rank of Marine Corps sergeant. The talk will be of interest to adults and young adults alike, including teachers, Veterans, history and military buffs, animal lovers, and anyone who enjoys a spirited story of courage and camaraderie. Barrett is an avid horsewoman who based her book, They Called Her Reckless: A True Story of War, Love and One Extraordinary Horse, on over 50 personal interviews.  Books will available for sale and signing.
 
As an added treat, there will be an exhibit of equine photographs by Paula McDonagh on display in the Library’s Community Room through the month of May.
