Tango Mass to be featured at CT Master Chorale Concert in Danbury

The Connecticut Master Chorale, under the direction of Tina Johns Heidrich, will present its annual Spring Concert on Sunday,  April 2, at 3 pm at the First Congregational Church, 164 Deer Hill Ave, Danbury.

Misa a Buenos Aires (Misatango) is a unique tribute to his country by Argentine composer MartPalmeri.  Influenced by the great tango orchestras of his native Buenos Aires, he drew inspiration from both classical and tango musical traditions and created a remarkable tango setting of the Latin Mass.

His successful combination of two diverse worlds resulted in this perfect blend of exhilarating tango drama with the traditional beauty of the Latin choral Mass. This outstanding work was chosen to open the 12th annual International Festival of Sacred Music and Art in Rome, Italy.

The Gift of Life is the long-awaited new major composition by John Rutter, Britain's most beloved composer.  Written during his seventieth birthday year, he describes it as "an important statement, all about life and celebrating life".

Regarded by many as the most gifted composer of his generation, this new work is his priceless gift to the world, a lyrical glorification of humanity, reflecting different facets of the miracles of creation and life.  This is John Rutter at his best!

The Connecticut Master Chorale is an ensemble of 55 vocalists in their 18th year of singing in Western Connecticut. They will be joined by mezzo-soprano soloist Wendy Gerbier and accompanied by the Connecticut Master Chorale Orchestra and Joseph J. Jacovino on piano and organ.

Admission to the concert is $20 in advance and $25 at the door. The venue is handicap accessible and doors will open at 2:15. Please call (203) 743-0473 for ticket purchase and visit www.cmchorale.org for additional information.
