Ridgefielder Roz Chast wins inaugural Kirkus Prize

Congratulations to Ridgefield's Roz Chast!

Chast, a well-known cartoonist for The New Yorker, along with Lily King and Kate Samworth were the winners of the inaugural Kirkus Prize last night.  The Kirkus Prize is a literary award with a monetary prize of $50,000 given to authors of fiction, nonfiction and young readers' literature.  The winners are chosen by a panel of nationally respected writers and booksellers, librarians and Kirkus critics.

Chast's graphic memoir, Can't We Talk About Something More Pleasant?, is an engaging and revealing look at Chast's often painful, and sometimes funny, struggle to help her parents as they aged.
