Despite making frequent appearances on the Dean’s List and taking her time in the classroom seriously, Western Connecticut State University graduate Nina Wojtkiewicz admits that her most savored moments at WCSU have been on the court and in the field.
So it’s no surprise that this top student-athlete has been recognized as a conference honoree for the 2015 National Collegiate Athletic Association Woman of the Year award. The volleyball and softball player was one of 480 young athletes to be nominated for the conference honor. The selection committee will now select the top 10 honorees in each of the three NCAA divisions before determining the top three finalists in each division. From those nine women, one will be selected for the title which will be announced at an awards dinner on Oct. 18.
The NCAA will announce the top 30 honorees in early September.
