Technological Advancements in Orthopedics to Improve the Care & Recovery of Today's Patients

To introduce the public to the latest technological advancements in orthopedics — including robotic-assisted surgery, among others — RVNA is teaming up with OrthoConnecticut/ Danbury Orthopedics to host a panel discussion on Wednesday evening, December 6, Technological Advancements in Orthopedics to Improve the Care and Recovery of Today’s Patients.

The discussion will be moderated by Gigi Weiss, MSPT, Director of Rehabilitation Services, RVNA & Rehab by RVNA. Panel speakers will include John P. Dunleavy, M.D., Total Joint Specialist, Hip & Knee Surgeon; Justin C. Paul, M.D., Ph.D., Spine Specialist, Surgeon; and Paul M. Tomaszewski, M.D., Sports Medicine Specialist, Knee, Hip & Shoulder Surgeon. A question & answer period will follow the discussion.

The panel will address how technological advancements in surgical tools and equipment, robotic-assisted surgery and procedures continue to change the field of orthopedic surgery, and how advanced imaging and precise techniques allow for a wider range of patients to access surgical solutions and aid in the overall recovery process.

“Today’s orthopedic tools and modalities aim to be minimally invasive and highly precise, targeting a damaged joint without causing gratuitous impact to the surrounding area,” says Dr. Dunleavy, a hip and knee specialist with exceptional joint replacement surgery experience. “This results in more effective surgeries and better, often faster, recoveries. As a consequence, for many patients, the decision to have orthopedic surgery is much easier to make today than it was in the past — because the advances in technology make the whole experience more accessible and acceptable.”

“Now is a great time to be an orthopedic patient,” adds Gigi Weiss of RVNA. “At Rehab by RVNA, as well as through RVNA’s in- home therapy services, we are seeing and treating patients of all ages both before and after advanced orthopedic surgeries. Their returns to mobility, health and well-being are remarkable. Today’s tools and methodologies set the scene for exceptional outcomes and exceptional recoveries.”

Technological Advancements in Orthopedics to Improve the Care & Recovery of Today’s Patients will run from 6:00pm – 7:30pm at RVNA, 27 Governor Street in Ridgefield, CT. The event is free and open to the public. Advance registration is recommended at 203-438-5555 or info@ridgefieldvna.org.
