The Causes of WWI: Presentation by Prof. David Koch at EWML

The summer of 1914 sparked more than just a war; it was the signal for the end of a dream of a united and peaceful Europe. The young men who went enthusiastically off to war in that summer would later be called a 'lost generation' of veterans and survivors, lurching into depression and another world war.

Yet that summer of 1914 is shrouded in confusion. How did the war begin? What were the events that led up to it? How did it get out of control so violently, so quickly, and so fatally?

To mark the 100th anniversary of the start of WWI, which began on July 28, 1914, David Koch, Assistant Professor of History at Housatonic Community College, will be at EWML on this coming July 28 at 6:30 PM to focus on the major powers, players, and events that brought on war in July and August of 1914.

Appropriate for all ages. Refreshments will be served. Reservations required.
