Longtime Bethel Resident Jacqueline Tawyea Passes at 85

Jacqueline Tenk Stelzel Tawyea passed away peacefully on September 14, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born in Bethel on February 22, 1929, a daughter of Joseph and Mabel (Nodine) Tenk. Jacqueline graduated from Bethel High School and worked at John’s Bakery and Noe’s Department Store before beginning her 21 year career as Assistant Manager at Newtown Savings Bank. Jackie enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

Jackie is survived by her brother Joseph Tenk and wife Betty, sister Carol Buckbee and husband George, as well as her children; Edward Stelzel, Francis (Fritz) Stelzel, Donald Stelzel and wife Susan, Elaine Gibbs Johr and husband Fred. She is also survived by grandchildren Kelli, Edward, Frank, Kerri, Brandy, Jesse, Kim, Don, Jessica, Loni Paul, Mike, Stephanie and Kyle, as well as 22 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Jackie is predeceased by her husbands, Edward C. Stelzel and Harry Tawyea, her brother Robert and great granddaughter Hailey

Family will receive friends in the Bethel Funeral Home 215 Greenwood Ave, Tuesday afternoon from 3 until 6 PM.
