Supporting & Embracing the Arts Today at the 8th Annual "Business Supports the Arts" Breakfast

The Matrix Conference Center in Danbury was packed this morning as hundreds of area residents, business owners, nonprofit organizations and government officials gathered to honor and support the arts. Ridgefield's own Allison Stockel, the Executive Director of The Ridgefield Playhouse, served as the Business Support the Arts Mistress of Ceremony. "Creativity improves the economy," said Stockel.

For 8 years, the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut has recognized extraordinary leaders who have significantly impacted the greater Danbury area by embracing the arts.

Ridgefield resident Wayne Leiss, the Executive Director of Ridgeifeld's thriving Theater Barn, was awarded "Heart of the Art" award. "Earth with our art is eh," declared Leiss.

Receiving the "Art in Community" award was Michael Lauretano, owner of Bethel's Pizzeria Lauretano who has successfully and artfully brought a Sunday Jazz Series to his restaurant.

The "2014 BSA Award" was given to Fairfield County Community Foundation leader Juanita T. James. This year alone, the Foundation has awarded $827,531.00 to arts organizations throughout Western Connecticut.

Thank you to Lisa Scales, the Executive Director of the Cultural Alliance, for your dedication to the arts and for organizing yet another successful Business Supports the Arts Breakfast.
