Trio of Hitters Signed by Danbury Westerners

The Danbury Westerners, the longest tenured team in the New England Collegiate Baseball League, are proud to announce the signing of Outfielder Joey Bartosic, 1B/Outfielder Zac Burger and Infielder Cam DiSarcina for the 2015 season. 

Joey Bartosic is a sophomore outfielder from Oakton, VA, attending George Washington University.  Bartosic has been described as having an aggressive playing style with stellar defensive footwork and excellent running skills.  This season Bartosic leads his team in hitting with a .357 average, and through March 29 has started all 21 games, leading the team with 30 hits and 16 runs scored.  He also leads the team with 11 stolen bases, and has yet to be caught stealing.   In his 2014 season he was named to Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team after batting.298 with 12 RBI in 46 games.  Bartosic tied for fifth in the Atlantic 10 with 20 stolen bases (out of 25 attempts), and led the Atlantic 10 with 14 stolen bases in conference games.  He also tied for sixth in Division I with eight outfield assists, and had 10 multiple hit games ranking in fifth on the team. Bartosic started in 37 games and ended the season strong, garnering a .379 batting average, 12 runs, eight RBI, and 13-of-14 stolen bases in the team’s final 15 games. Bartosic is majoring in Business Administration.

Zac Burger is a junior 1st baseman/outfielder for Louisiana Tech University, hailing from Orlando, FL.  Burger bats left handed and throws right handed, and transferred from Palm Beach State for the 2015 season.  Burger finished his sophomore season at Palm Beach State with a .320 batting average, 47 hits, 30 runs, 10 doubles, three home runs, 27 RBI, while appearing in 46 games.  Burger played for Barry University as a freshman, playing in 33 games, and finishing the season with three doubles, two home runs, 12 RBI, and three stolen bases.  

Cam DiSarcina is a sophomore infielder for Merrimack College, and is from Shirley, MA.  This season DiSarcina has started all 17 games, hitting .275.  He is second on the team in runs scored with 15, and stolen bases (six), and tied for third with 19 hits.  In 2014 DiSarcina was named to the Northeast-10 All-Rookie Team. That season DiSarcina appeared in 37 games and ranked second on the team with 34 RBI’s, nine doubles, and three triples. DiSarcina was fifth on the team with a batting average of .299.  He ended the season with 44 hits, 19 runs, and nine stolen bases. DiSarcina’s uncle, Gary DiSarcina, played twelve seasons for the California Angels, and is currently the Angels’ 3rd base coach.  DiSarcina is an engineering major at Merrimack.
