Cultural Alliance of Western CT is looking for nominations individuals and local businesses for their annual "Business Supports the Arts".

The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut seeks businesses and individuals to nominate for its annual Business Supports the Arts Awards, to be presented Thursday morning, October 15th, at its always anticipated annual awards breakfast. This year's event, expected to attract more than 350 of Danbury's business and arts establishment (and the newcomers moving in), will take place 7:30am to 9:00am at the the Matrix Conference & Banquet Center, 39 Old Ridgebury Road. The Cultural Alliance established the awards to recognize extraordinary business leaders and volunteers who have made an impact in the community through their philanthropic support to the arts and cultural community.The awards are bestowed upon businesses and individuals who benefit the arts and culture within the communities the Cultural Alliance serves: Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Ridgefield, Redding, and Sherman.

The Cultural Alliance's Executive Director, Lisa Scails, welcomes the Business Supports the Arts award breakfast every year. "What a pleasure to share in a gathering of  like minded, supportive, proactive promoters of what it takes to make synergies. I couldn't ask for better." 

Three awards are given each year. The most prestigious award, the BSA award, is  presented to mid-sized to large businesses for their exemplary giving practices. It recognizes the broad impact made and significant philanthropic contributions to support art, history and culture within the Cultural Alliance's 10-town region. Past recipients include: Fairfield County's Community Foundation, Danbury Hospital, Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra,  Fairfield County Bank, Goodrich, Comcast, Western Connecticut State University, Joseph DaSilva, Jr., and Union Savings Bank.

 The Arts in the Community award highlights, promotes, and honors local business leaders who have encouraged and supported innovative approaches to using the arts to build and sustain vibrant, healthy, and creative communities that focus on economic development. This award is usually presented to a local business or business leader. The Heart of the Arts award recognizes the outstanding volunteer efforts of an individual and their contributions made to encourage and nurture arts and culture in their community, and significantly increasing our region's quality of life.

Nomination information and forms can be obtained by visiting artswesternct.org  The deadline for receipt of all nomination forms is  Friday, August 14th.
