Work of Bethel Artist Elizabeth White is Selected for 2016 Farm Project

Bethel Artist Elizabeth White's Installation "Migration" is Selected for Inclusion in 2016 Farm Project Presented by Collaborative Concepts at Saunders Farm

The 11th edition of the always highly anticipated 'Farm Project", presented by Collaborative Concepts at Saunders Farm this fall, will include "Migration", an expansive installation by artist, Elizabeth White, of Bethel, CT. A huddled mass of life cast-cement leaves, drifting in different directions, the work is a haunting reflection on today's major headlines. "I use life-cast leaves to represent individuals away from their roots", says Elizabeth. "In site-specific installations, they are arranged singularly or in clusters, underfoot or under cover, up against or over a wall. In view of the current economic disasters, political conditions, military actions and climate or earth changes, I see immigration as the new normal. What may be them today is us tomorrow."

More than 6 dozen leaves, in sizes ranging in weight from 5 to 35 lbs., will be set amidst large-scale works by 70 fellow artists, on rolling pastures, with views of the Hudson Highlands, and roaming Black Angus cattle. The 'Farm Project' opens Saturday, September 3rd, with a reception from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, and runs through Saturday, October 29th at the 100-acre Saunders Farm, 853 Old Albany Post Road, Garrison, NY.

Most recently seen in the 12th National Juried Exhibition at Ceres Gallery in Chelsea NYC, where she was awarded First Place, and in the 'Mind, Body, & Soul' juried show at the Warwick Museum of Art (Warwick, RI), Elizabeth's extensive credits include exhibitions at Katonah Museum of Art (Katonah, NY), UConn Art Gallery (Stamford, CT), Pen & Brush Society (New York, NY), and in Canada, Ireland, and throughout the US.

Elizabeth studied art and communications at the College of Marin (CA) and continued the study of drawing and painting at the Art Students League of New York and the JoAnne Day Studio of Decorative Art in Oakland, CA. She has worked as a decorative painter, as a board member for regional environmental and art groups, and often volunteers for various educational and environmental projects. With her husband, Bob Becker, she established Bob Becker Marketing and Communications and continues their collaboration at their studios in Bethel.

About her art, Elizabeth notes, "Connection to the natural world and my desire for harmony in what surrounds me have been a  motivating force in my artistic practice. My work ranges from the ephemeral to the concrete, using natural and found objects, cement, and sometimes video. I'm often moved to address environmental or social concerns."
