Casey Ellis of Bethel was hit by a car on Wednesday evening, November 23 while riding her bicycle in Abilene, Texas, according to a press release by Abilene Police Department.
Ellis was 21 years old and a student at Abilene Christian University (ACU). Police report that she was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The press release states that witnesses reported a female bicyclist was westbound on Ambler Ave and entered the intersection of North Judge Ely Blvd. against a red light. A white 2014 Ford Focus was northbound on North Judge Ely Blvd. crossing Ambler with a green light and struck the bicyclist as she crossed in front of him.
