Danbury, CT: A new mural installation by Newtown artist and muralist Toni Miraldi will be on display at Hodge Insurance Agency, 283 Main St, Danbury, CT, from February 13 through April 14, 2017.
Speaking of her inspiration for the exhibit, Miraldi explains, “For the Accessible Art installation at Hodge Insurance Agency, I designed the site-specific mural, You Have Options, which speaks to the way insurance protects different segments of our lives, and is a visual play on the title of Richard Nelson Bolles’ famous book, What Color is Your Parachute?”
Miraldi also created a “portable mural” for the project, which is exhibited on a wall adjacent to the mural installation at Hodge Insurance Agency. Entitled, Lift, this 4-foot-square work consists of four birch panels which together make up one larger image. To accentuate the organic beauty of the wood grain, she chose to work with natural materials such as water-based wood stain and old-fashioned milk paint. “I want my work to be as eco-conscious as possible,” says Miraldi. “Paint has a reputation for being somewhat toxic, and with Lift, I wanted to show that completely non-toxic materials can be used to create wonderful effects.”
About Toni Miraldi: A resident of Sandy Hook, CT, Miraldi has been painting custom murals in homes and businesses since 2006. In 2016, she turned her hobby into a business and launched Mural Envy, which specializes in clean and open, uniquely modern designs.
