Bethel Cadet Emily Johnson Receives Gold Award from Western CT Military Officers Association

Bethel Public Schools congratulates Bethel Navy JROTC Battalion Commander, Cadet Emily Johnson, who was selected to receive the Gold Award from the Western CT Military Officers Association.

"There were 24 nominees, including students from the top of their class at most of the Fairfield County high schools. The nominees included 5 students heading to West Point, 2 admitted to the U.S. Naval Academy, 2 admitted to Yale, 1 to Harvard, and many other prestigious schools, and Emily won the highest award," explains Bethel Superintendent, Christine Carver.

The award consists of a $1000.00 scholarship, the book "Great American Speeches", a certificate of recognition from Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty, and a beautiful metallic (copper) American beauty rose (the same presented to First Ladies at the inauguration).

Emily will be Attending Yale University and has been selected by the Secretary of the Air Force to receive a 4-year scholarship valued in excess of $250,000.00.
