Bethel native, Alice E. Davis, 93, has died

Alice E. Davis, 93, of Holly Hill, FL, formerly of Danbury and Bethel, wife of the late George Davis, died in Holly Hill, FL.

Mrs. Davis was born in Bethel, CT, July 27, 1924, a daughter of the late John and Frieda (David) Abdella and lived most of her life in Bethel, attended Bethel schools and graduated second from Bethel High School with the Class of 1941.

She was a retired supervisor with the State of Connecticut Dept. of Motor Vehicles. She resided a few years in Danbury and then relocated to Holly Hill, FL, to be near her family. Her last days were very happy and full of activities. Alice loved going out to dinner with her family, playing Bingo, doing crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble and cards, going out on walks, cooking Lebanese food, and she never missed an episode of Jeopardy. Alice loved to dance and sing. Most of all, she loved to talk with people and made a friend of everyone she met. She particularly treasured every visit with her nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

In Danbury, she was a member of the Lebanon American Club Auxiliary, the Ma-Asser Society and of St. Ann’s Melkite Catholic Church.

Mrs. Davis is survived by two sons, Richard Davis and his wife Kathy Kurke and James Davis.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Davis was predeceased by her three sisters, Mary, Helen and Nazha.

The Rite of Burial will take place on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ann Melkite Church, 181 Clapboard Ridge Road, (Rt. 39N) Danbury with Archimandrite Michael Skrocki officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel.

The family will receive friends in St. Ann Church on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Contributions in Mrs. Davis’ memory may be made to St. Ann Church.
