AAA Southern New England now offers driver education, including the mandatory eight-hour Safe Driving Practices training class for teens and adults, in Fairfield County. The club’s newest driving facility is located at 67-69 Stony Hill Road, Bethel.
Teens and adults must take the eight-hour Safe Driving Practices class before applying for a Connecticut driver’s license. The teen class includes the mandatory two-hour parent/guardian portion for individuals younger than 18. The adult eight-hour class is offered to students 18 years and older, who either may have waited to obtain their driver’s licenses, are experienced international license holders who need Connecticut licenses; or are adults, who never learned to drive.
Both classes cover the dangers of operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs and alcohol; and focuses on safe driving skills including the dangers of texting and electronic use while driving. The two-hour parent class also covers the state’s graduated driver law requirements. T
Classes are open to AAA members and non-members. On-the-road driver training also is available separately. However, combined class and on-the-road training may be purchased. Pricing information and registration may be obtained by calling 1-855-222-1050 or visiting www.aaa.com/drivertraining and link to “Bethel Driving School” on the lower left-hand column on the page. The fee is $150. Graduates of the 8-hour Safe Driving Teen Class, whose parents are AAA members, will receive a free Associate level AAA membership.
