Bethel’s Innovative Etching’s Inspirational Glass panels to be Unveiled at Our Lady of Fatima on Palm Sunday

One of Connecticut’s largest Portuguese Church to celebrate heavenly new additions

Bethel, Ct. Tech meets fine art …the result, a divinely inspired series of five large glass etched panels created by Steve Schaffer’s Innovative Etching for Our Lady of Fatima Church, one of Connecticut’s largest Portuguese congregations. The glass panels are original interpretations of Biblical scenes etched in glass including the Assumption, Annunciation and the Crucifixion, among others. The series will be unveiled on Palm Sunday at the Church on Baldwin Hill Road in Waterbury, Ct.

“This is the largest art etching project that we have ever attempted in our 30 years of business… in those three decades we have etched everything from champagne glasses to bike fenders but this was truly a work of love," says owner and etcher extraordinaire Schaffer.

Schaffer was assisted by fine artist and graphic designer Jack Disbrow who’s dossier includes one man shows in Fairfield County and Manhattan at the Evanreid Gallery in New Canaan, Silvermine Artists Guild in Silvermine Ct. and the Gastillian and Pleiades Galleries in New York City. “Working with Innovative Etching brings together Graphics and fine art as well as designing and all my interests and experience," comments Disbrow.

From his studio in Bethel, Schaffer has designed and installed etched windows in Rosy Tomorrows and glass dividers at Molly Darcy, two popular Danbury restaurants as well as wine glasses for Mohegan Sun Casino and even steins for Orange County Choppers. Says Schaffer,” We are currently designing etched interiors for the soon to open Meeting House, originally La Fortuna at exit 8 in Danbury."
