Memories of New England at Municipal Center Gallery

The works of Paul Gallant, (http://paulgallantart.com/)a New England artist, are on exhibit at The Gallery in The Municipal Center 3 Primrose St, Newtown through July 29.  The Municipal center is open Monday-Friday from 8:30-4:30.

Although he began his formal training at the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts, Gallant graduated from Boston University. For many years he was a successful businessman returning to his love of painting as a second career. His art work reflects his interest in “en plein air painting,” translated from the French as “open (in full) air.”

Gallant’s paintings reflect New England at it most storied. With paintings like Riverside & Post Road, Westport, CT and Vermont, his works bring home memories of drives and walks in New England in all its seasons.

From Gloucester, Mass  to South Bristol Bay, Maine , Gallant finds the essence and the emotion in everything he paints.

But he also brings, landscapes, Florida and New York City to life. Even in the summer you can feel the winter chill in his Rockefeller Center, which depicts ice skaters while the Christmas Tree is up.
