Manhattan Short…The World’s First Global Film Festival at The Palace Danbury

Opening Night at The Palace Danbury- September 23

On Friday September 23, 2016, the MANHATTAN SHORT FILM FESTIVAL will return to Danbury’s Palace Theatre for the 6th year in a row.

MANHATTAN SHORT is about communities bonding together via their local cinema. The festival unfolds simultaneously in theaters around the world. This year it will take place in over 250 cities, spanning six continents, between September 23 to October 2, bringing over 100,000 film-lovers together to view the work of 10 fantastic filmmakers.

MANHATTAN SHORT received a record 844 short film submissions from 52 countries this year. The 10 finalists hail from eight countries, and the films run the gamut of comedy, drama, horror, science fiction, and animation.

You Be The Judge!

Which of these 10 short film is the best? That's up to a worldwide audience to decide. Cinema-goers across the globe will become instant film critics as they are handed a ballot upon entry that allows them to vote for the Best Film and Best Actor.

In addition, all of the final 10 short films will be eligible for an Academy Award nomination. MANHATTAN SHORT audiences know a good film when they see one. Last year one of the fest’s top vote-getters Bear Story (Chile)  won the Academy Award  for the best animated short .

MANHATTAN SHORT's international appeal is among its biggest attributes. "In times like these, cross-border events like MANHATTAN SHORT that contribute towards greater tolerance and understanding are needed now more than ever,” said Founding Director Nicholas Mason.

MANHATTAN SHORT FILM FESTIVAL will come to The Palace Danbury on Friday, September 23 starting at 8:00pm. Tickets cost $15 and may be purchased online at www.thepalacedanbury.com, by phone at 203-794-9944, or at the box office starting one hour before showtime.
