Small towns near NYC you must visit? Bethel makes the list

The New York edition of Curbed.com, a website that provides analysis, coverage, and insight to the housing industry, just published “20 small towns near NYC you need to visit right now”, placing Bethel at #15. Other Connecticut burbs making the list: Ridgefield (#17), Madison (#5), Mystic (#8) and Kent (#10).

The birthplace of P.T. Barnum is so proud of the Barnum & Bailey Circus ringmaster that they constructed a statute in his honor in Bethel’s walkable downtown district. Mostly centered on Greenwood Avenue, shopping options include coffee shops and several used book stores.Indulge your love for kitsch at the ‘50s-style diner, the Sycamore Drive-In, for curbside service and homemade root beer, and make sure to stop at Dr. Mike’s Ice Cream Shop for what locals call “a visit to the good doctor.”
