Rep. David Scribner Celebrates Aquatic Invasive Species Grant to Candlewood Lake Authority

HARTFORDState Rep. David Scribner (R-107), member of the Public Health and Finance, Revenue & Bonding Committees, today applauded the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) for bestowing a $50,000 grant upon the Candlewood Lake Authority (which serves the towns of Brookfield, Danbury, New Milford, New Fairfield and Sherman) to help stock their supply of triploid grass carp, which should eradicate unwanted Eurasian water milfoil weeds in Candlewood Lake.

“I’m happy that the Lake Authority is finally getting the funding it deserves to destroy and remove invasive weeds,” Rep. Scribner said. “Knowing that control is being taken over these disruptive plants and that all admirers of the Lake will benefit from this project is very encouraging. I predict that a boost in the local economy will result from it as well. I want to thank the DEEP and Candlewood Lake Authority for their serious consideration and effort devoted to this project, and for keeping this issue on the forefront!”
