Car Death of Ridgefield Infant Ruled a Homicide

HamletHub spoke to a representative at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner this afternoon in regard to the tragic death of 15 month old Benjamin Seitz on July 7 in Ridgefield.

An autopsy has revealed that Benjamin died from "hypethermia due to environmental exposure". They also confirmed that the death was ruled a homicide.

Ridgefield Police Captain Jeff Kreitz put out the following statement at 3:00 pm today:

The following is an update regarding the death of Benjamin Seitz which was reported to the Ridgefield Police Department on 07-07-2014.

On 08-21-2014 the Ridgefield Police Department was advised by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner that the cause of death was hyperthermia due to environmental exposure and the manner of death was homicide. After speaking with the Danbury State's Attorney's Office we were asked not to comment further on this case due to the fact that the investigation is ongoing.
