Volunteers Share Time, Talent and Heart with Green Chimneys

Each year, Green Chimneys relies on over 75 individuals to share their time, expertise and heart with our children and animals as volunteers. From mentoring students to assisting with caring for farm animals and wildlife to providing support in our offices, there is a wide range of ways you can be a part of our community too!

Take it from one longtime friend and current volunteer, Steven Mueller, who shares this about volunteering:

Green Chimneys is a great place with a lot of nurturing, dedicated people helping children who are facing significant challenges. There’s no place like this – the environment is amazing.

Volunteering is very individualized. One thing that’s wonderful about Green Chimneys is that there are so many different programs and facets – everyone can find something that will bring satisfaction and purpose and allow you to serve a need for a child or an animal.

We need you!
As winter thaws, spring blooms with a plethora of chances to give back at Green Chimneys. Learn more about sharing your time and talent with us >

Steven Mueller is a 15-year Fairfield County resident who first volunteered at Green Chimneys in 2004 for an entire year thanks to Xerox Foundation’s Social Service Leave program. From being in the unique position as a fulltime volunteer to later serving on our board, Steven has a thorough understanding of Green Chimneys’ mission and inner workings. We’re grateful that in the spring of 2015, Steven returned to volunteer. One day a week you can find him at the Horse Barn assisting riding classes, working one-on-one with student Jonathan and mucking stalls with a smile. Steven’s passion for helping children, camaraderie amongst staff and willingness to advocate for Green Chimneys, is truly appreciated.
