SPACE on Ryder Farm's Winter internships in NYC

SPACE on Ryder Farm is a non-profit artist residency program located an hour north of New York City on an organic farm in Brewster, New York. SPACE creates an environment singular in its ability to invigorate artists and innovators and their work, and contributes to the sustainability and resourceful preservation of one of the oldest organic family farms on the East Coast.

The organization is seeking an intern for fifteen to twenty hours a week. The intern will report to SPACE’s NYC office and work with SPACE’s year-round staff and key independent contractors to fulfill SPACE’s artistic and organizational objectives.


Primary Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
- Support SPACE’s Management Associate and curation team in the 2017 application process
- Help maintain SPACE’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc.)
- In coordination with Communications and Development Associate, prepare copy for e-blasts, website updates and development correspondence
- Assist with the planning and execution of special events including readings, cultivation events and the 2017 season kick-off party
- Provide support to SPACE’s Communications and Development Associate with donor software implementation and data entry
- Other tasks as assigned


Qualifications:
- A proactive self-starter who is highly organized
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Flexibility and willing to pitch in where needed
- Ability to communicate clearly and consistently (verbally and in writing)
- Working knowledge of social media
- Experience in data entry a plus
- Computer skills: proficiency with Google docs, Excel, Microsoft Office required


Time Commitment

The internship will take place from mid January 2017 to May 2017, primarily in SPACE’s NYC office. The time commitment is fifteen to twenty hours each week, with some flexibility about reporting days.


Compensation

The internship is unpaid, though is eligible for college credit. Interns are responsible for covering the cost of their own travel to/from the office.

SPACE on Ryder Farm is an ‘all-hands- on-deck’ grassroots organization. Since its first residency season in 2011, SPACE has supported over 1,000 artists and activists through general and program-specific residencies. Interning at SPACE is a great way to connect with the New York City arts community, gain employable administrative skills and confidence.
