Team up to Help Putnam CAP Soup Kitchen on Fridays

Throughout the year, Putnam Community Action Partnership operates a soup kitchen which serves lunch every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  During the winter months last year when the Brewster Emergency Shelter was in operation, we were able to add Friday lunch to the program.  Recognizing the value of this program extension, Putnam CAP is planning to add that fourth day again beginning Friday, December 1, 2017 and continuing until Friday, March 23, 2018.

Putnam CAP is reaching out to you today to ask if your adult family members, office, neighborhood or community group would consider hosting one Friday at the soup kitchen.  A host is asked to provide staffing to cook, serve and clean-up.  The soup kitchen is located at the First Baptist Church, 460 N. Main Street in Brewster.  Lunch is served from 12:00 to 1:00PM.  Cooks generally arrive no later than 9:30 a.m., servers by 11 a.m. and everything wraps up by approximately 2 p.m..   Some guest hosts prefer to plan the meals themselves and provide all the ingredients.  If that is not your choice, Putnam CAP will plan the menu and provide the food.  All non-food supplies are provided by Putnam CAP.

Even if your group is too small to send 4 or 5 people, perhaps you could consider sending one person and combining resources with other group to form a ‘crew’.  It’s really a great experience and one you won’t forget.

Volunteers and community partners are critical to the operation of the soup kitchen and I hope you will consider this request for partnership.  Thank you for your consideration and please don’t hesitate to call me if I can answer any questions that will aid in your decision making.
