Putnam County Land Trust celebrates 48 years of protecting open space in your Big Back Yard

Putnam County Land Trust (PCLT) announces its Annual Benefit Dinner and Auction on Saturday, March 25th. The public event is an opportunity to support the organization’s continued mission of preservation, education, and public access to natural areas throughout Putnam County.

Putnam County Land Trust is pleased to announce this year’s dinner honoree and recipient of the 2017 Blue Heron Award, John Wilson, DVM, of Brewster Veterinary Hospital. The Blue Heron Award was created to recognize those individuals and groups who have demonstrated an unfailing commitment to local environmental conservation and education. Dr. Wilson’s dedication to wildlife and the community is evident with his thirty plus years of voluntary veterinary services in helping injured, orphaned, and distressed animals. He has been an enthusiastic supporter of Putnam County Land Trust and various local organizations. Paul Kupchok, past recipient of the PCLT’s Leadership in Giving Award and Green Chimneys’ Wildlife Director, said “I have worked with Dr. Wilson for more than twenty-five years. Every year we bring him as many as 100 injured wild animals including birds, mammals and reptiles. Dr. Wilson does X-rays, surgeries, and administers medications at no cost to us. I for one along with Green Chimneys will be forever indebted to him for his generosity. He is a treasure to all who love nature and wildlife. I am proud to call him my friend.”

The event will begin with passed hors d'oeuvre featuring live entertainment followed by a gourmet seated dinner.  Throughout the evening there will be raffles, a silent and live auction.  Ivan and Laura Cohen of the Cohen Putnam Agency will be our auctioneers this year.

The benefit dinner and auction will be held at the Centennial Golf Club at 185 John Simpson Road in Carmel, NY. Festivities begin at 5:30 P.M. The event will have a cash bar. Seating is limited and reservations are required.  Take advantage of special dinner pricing of $60 per person if paid by March 16th.  After March 16th, if available, tickets can be purchased for $70 per person.  To make a reservation, inquire about advertising space or donate goods or services for the auction, call 914-621-8466 or e-mail events@pclt.net.
