Engineering Expo Free Fun Hands-on Learning Event

Join in at the 14th Annual Lower Hudson Valley Engineering EXPO

Chances are whatever you do today, an engineer had a role in it. Come find out how engineering impacts what we eat, how we work, play and learn, to how we travel, communicate and stay healthy at the 14th Annual Lower Hudson Valley Engineering EXPO on Sunday, April 2nd, from 11am to 3:30pm at White Plains High School, 550 North Street, White Plains, New York.

Back by popular demand, it’s the Middle School “EXPO Test Lab” and for High School students a Rube Goldberg Machine Contest-“Apply a Band- Aid”. More than 100 engineering exhibitors are participating, including representatives from over 40 of the region’s leading learning institutions such as Rutgers, Cornell, Villanova, Manhattan, RPI, Lehigh, WCC, Penn State, SUNY, and many more local and regional colleges. All fields of engineering will be featured: Civil, Structural, Chemical, Electrical, Biomedical, Computer, Mechanical, Petrochemical, Environmental, Materials and Nuclear.

Engineering EXPO is a fun, hands-on learning event, free for all ages of students and adults. The doors open at 11am and the EXPO runs until 3:30pm at White Plains High School. Free parking is provided and food/beverages are available for purchase. Plus, there will be plenty of giveaways and hourly prizes, including five GoPro Action Cameras. More information is available at www.BeAnEngineer.org  and on Facebook/LowerHudsonValleyEngineeringExpo.

Engineering EXPO Founder and Organizer Mal McLaren, President and CEO of McLaren Engineering, said “Engineering ranks number one in career opportunities for college graduates and I encourage parents of school-aged children, as young as middle school, to attend the Engineering EXPO to expose them to the field. Engineers play a key role in virtually everything we do. However, U.S. businesses are experiencing a shortage of engineers, with 89% saying they have difficulty filling engineering positions. Our country and economy needs many more trained engineering and the EXPO is designed to help meet this demand by encouraging more students to pursue engineering studies.”

If you have a child with an aptitude and interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), April 2nd at the Engineering EXPO would be a Sunday very well spent.
