Master Gardener Annual May Plant Sale

Master Gardener May Plant Sale

Mark your calendars for Saturday May 20, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.  Be there for the opening bell at the annual Master Gardener May Plant Sale because this is one plant sale where the plants move faster than the people!

The sale, located at the Cornell Cooperative Extension office parking lot, 1 Geneva Road (off route 312), Brewster features organic heirloom and hybrid vegetable selected by Master Gardener Volunteers for Putnam County gardens.  Our carefully chosen tomatoes, peppers, eggplants and other popular vegetable seedlings are available singly or in two packs so you can try a few varieties.  You’ll also find garden favorites like annuals, herbs and unique combination planters.  Master Gardener Volunteers offer tough perennials and beautiful shrubs proven to thrive in Putnam County.  A selection of unusual summer-flowering bulbs will round out your colorful garden. Don’t forget to stop and peruse our favorite tools, gardening gloves, and other select garden gear.

What makes our plant sale different?  Master Gardeners are on hand to answer your questions about planting, nurturing, and harvesting, so you’ll be sure to have a successful gardening season.  Free soil pH tests will get you off to a good start: bring a two-cup sample of your garden soil in a clean container. Beauty and the Bees: You can make your backyard a wildlife oasis. Come to our Native Plant information booth and find out how native plant communities support a colorful array of birds, bees and butterflies. We’ll even help you choose plants that are attractive to pollinators but not so attractive to foraging deer. Stop by to learn about problem-solving native perennials and shrubs that will survive a drought, soak up storm water, and grace your landscape with their beauty.
