Don't miss Relay For Life tomorrow June 10th at BHS Track
PS It's not to late to start fundraising!
On June 10, 2017, hundreds of local residents will join together for the first time at the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Brewster at Brewster High School to raise funds and awareness for a world without cancer. The event starts at 6:00pm.
Founded by Dr. Gordy Klatt in Washington in 1985, the Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest fundraising event to save lives from cancer. Uniting communities across the globe, we celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action for lifesaving change. During Relay For Life events, members of each team take turns walking or running around the track or path. Teams participate in fundraising in the months leading up to the event.
Funds raised help the American Cancer Society provide free information and support for people facing the disease today, and fund cancer research that will help protect future generations. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the Society has invested more than $4.6 billion in research since 1946, and have funded more than 20,000 scientists at more than 1,000 institutions nationwide.
The volunteer event planning committee invites everyone to come out to the event this Saturday. There will be activities, entertainment, various ceremonies and admission is free. Entertainment includes a DJ and live music, and some team fundraisers include a dunk tank, purple hair extensions, a photo booth, temporary tattoos, baked goods and much more.
Cancer survivors and their caregivers are also invited to the survivor reception that will take place at 4:30pm under a tent just adjacent to the track. The dinner has been donated by several community businesses.
Take action this year and help make cancer a priority by participating or donating to the Relay For Life of Brewster. Visit www.RelayForLife.org/BrewsterNY to learn more about the event, or contact Katie DiVenuto at 914-397-8865 or katie.divenuto@cancer.org.
