Next Generation, Music of New York City Concerts Around the Corner

The Cultural Arts Coalition presents, Next Generation, the Music of New York City, Sunday, October 15th, 3:00pm, Studio Around the Corner, Brewster NY. We are pleased to announce the Avangrid Foundation on behalf of NYSEG, as the grand sponsor of this series.

Jessica Stein, trumpet; Sasha Ono, cello; and Daniel Colalillo, piano, will perform a program featuring works by composers who lived, worked, and influenced classical and popular culture in New York City. Dvorak, Mahler, Bernstein, Gershwin and Sasha’s father, the trumpet player and composer, Shunzo Ohno.

Trumpet player Jessica Stein enjoys a diverse and growing career as a soloist, orchestral player, chamber musician, and teacher. Recently, Jessica participated in The Aspen Music Festival and this fall she will begin her new position as Band Director at the Haldane Central School District. In addition to teaching, Jessica performs with regional orchestras and bands in the New York Metropolitan Area including the Yonkers Philharmonic, Norwalk Symphony, and Bronxville Pops and in dozens of pit orchestras for musical productions.

Cellist, Sasha Ono, performs regularly in the U.S. and internationally including venues such as Avery Fischer/David Geffen Hall, Soka University Performing Arts Center and Françoys Bernier Concert Hall. Recent performances include work with Grammy Award winning jazz musicians and for Mozart in the Jungle. As Chamber Orchestra Director at Brewster High School and Orchestra Director at CV Starr Intermediate School, she writes and directs curriculum based on building student leadership and creativity for over 100 students.

Daniel Colalillo is a New York based classical pianist. As a soloist, he is known for delivering strong commanding performances and unique interpretations with a depth of musical integrity. He has been lauded by The New York Times. Daniel has toured widely across the US and Canada, and has given recitals at venues including Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, Bargemusic, Nicholas Roerich Museum, Steinway Hall, and Princeton University. Daniel's debut album "Mostly Scriabin" was recently released; CDs and downloads are now available on cdbaby, iTunes, and Amazon.
