Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs takes the BHS Stage this Weekend Only!

The Brewster High School theater department is proud to present their production of Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 6:30pm at the Brewster High School Performing Arts Center. About the show: “Eugene Jerome and his family are fighting the hard times and sometimes each other—with laughter, tears, and love. It is 1937 in Brooklyn during the heart of the Depression. Fifteen-year-old Eugene Jerome lives in Brighton Beach with his family. Dreaming of baseball and girls, he is witty, perceptive, and forever fantasizing his baseball-diamond triumphs as star pitcher for the New York Yankees. As our guide through his "memoirs," Eugene takes us through a series of trenchant observations and insights that show his family meeting life's challenges with pride, spirit, and a marvelous sense of humor. Eugene must cope with the mundane existence of his family life in Brooklyn: formidable mother, overworked father, and his worldly older brother Stanley. Throw into the mix his widowed Aunt Blanche, her two young (but rapidly aging) daughters and you have a recipe for hilarity, served up Simon-style. This bittersweet memoir evocatively captures the life of a struggling Jewish household where, as his father states, "if you didn't have a problem, you wouldn't be living here.”

The show features freshman James Hartigan as Eugene Jerome, senior Cecilia Guida as Kate Jerome, senior Megan Campbell as Blanche, sophomore RJ Frankenberry as Stanley Jerome, sophomore Aaron Lurin as Jack Jerome, senior Erin Vaughan as Nora, and freshman Bridget Courtney as Laurie. Rounding out the ensemble cast and understudies are seniors Maxwell Likens and Erin Kirkpatrick, juniors Grace Curley, Tommy Froessel, Angela Hupp and Sarah Borsari, sophomores Andrew DiFabbio, Izzy Izaguirre and Grace Stathatos, and freshmen Ben Pollak, Fiona McCoppin, Kayla Smith, Brooke Ryan and Bella DiDio.

“Brighton Beach Memoirs” will run November 2nd, 3rd, and 4th at 6:30pm at the Brewster High School Performing Arts Center: 50 Foggintown Rd, Brewster, NY. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased online using the following link: http://tinyurl.com/y7wa9dw8
