Broadway’s Original “Horton” Helps Seven Star School Student Follow in his Footsteps

Horton the Elephant is the kind-hearted elephant from beloved Dr. Seuss books. Hudson DiTomaso (Mahopac, NY) has been rehearsing his role as Horton for Seven Star School’s mainstage production of “Seussical Jr.” to be presented this May. Hudson was given a unique opportunity to meet with Kevin Chamberlain, who originated the role of Horton in the 2001 Broadway Production of "Seussical."

Last Wednesday, Hudson visited Kevin in between shows at the Nederlander Theatre in Manhattan for a voice lesson and some acting advice.  Chamberlain focused on a few scenes from the show and even sang Horton's lullaby song, "Solla Sollew", with Hudson.  Chamberlain's encouraging comments and words of wisdom were truly memorable for Hudson who was a bit apprehensive portraying the featured part.  Hudson explained, “This is definitely a moment in my life I will never forget.”

Kevin is currently performing in the Broadway musical, "Disaster" at the Nederlander Theatre.

Seussical Jr. will be performed on May 13 at 6:30pm and May 14 at 3pm at the Brewster High School Performing Arts Center 50 Foggintown Road in Brewster, NY. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit Seven Star School of Performing Arts at www.SevenStarSchool.com or call 845.278.0728
