Village of Brewster Film Festival receives record number of submissions for 2016 Season

The 2016 Village of Brewster Film Festival (VOBFF) is gearing up for its annual Labor Day independent film weekend throughout Putnam County. Its final submission period ended on May 10th, and it received a record 130 films. These entries will be judged and will result in the largest number of films ever screened at the Festival.

"We have many great submissions and expect to screen 30-40 films throughout the County.  It will be our largest Festival ever," says Bob Dumont, Chairman of the VOBFF.

The Festival is now in its fifth year, and in order to accommodate the growth, it has added Arts on the Lake (AoTL) as a venue for the Festival.

Ed Durkee, who is Executive Director of AoTL, is excited about the partnership. "They approached us, and we thought the fit would be perfect. We are happy that we can accommodate."

The expansion will provide the Film Festival with an additional location in Putnam County and for the first time, films will be screened at two sites simultaneously:  Studio Around the Corner and at Arts on the Lake on Sunday, September 4th.  "Because of the number of submissions this year, we are ecstatic to be able to make this happen," Dumont remarked.

The Festival will take place Thursday, September 1st through Sunday, September 4th.  Locations will include: Chapel Restoration in Cold Spring; The Bull and Barrel Brew Pub in Brewster; Empire Cinemas in Southeast; Arts on the Lake in Carmel; Ryder Farm in Southeast; and Studio Around the Corner in Brewster.  Visit the Festival's website at VOBFilmFestival.com and its Facebook page for more information and volunteer opportunities.

This project is made possible, in part, through Putnam Arts Council's Arts Link Program, which is funded with public funds through the NYS Council on the Arts with support from Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the NYS Legislature and with public funds from Putnam County.
