Over 200 attend UnCorked and On Tap

Camp Herrlich hosted their annual UnCorked and On Tap event at Putnam County Golf Club in Mahopac on Saturday October 15th.  The event saw over 200 people join County Executive Mary Ellen O’Dell, Executive Director of the United Way Alana Sweeney, Honorable Judge John Sweeney, and Honorable Judge James Reitz in the benefit. Guests enjoyed wine tasting courtesy of Grapevine of Carmel, craft beer tasting courtesy of Bull and Barrel Brew Pub, a cigar bar, a silent auction, and a live auction that played more like a stand-up comedy show.  Guests had the opportunity to eat, drink, enjoy fun and fellowship, and bid on items such as signed Yankee memorabilia, beautiful jewelry, cosmetics gift baskets, and a Vermont vacation.  They could also take home Camp Herrlich branded Seeker wine, Tremper T long-sleeve t-shirts, and other Camp Herrlich items.

Announced at this event was Camp Herrlich’s partnership with H. G. Fairfield Center for Arts and the Environment.  Founder Kathie Freston (USMC ’53-‘64) and President Kim Blacklock presented the H. G. Fairfield Arts’ Grasshopper Awards for forward thinking and positive change to Kent Recycling Center’s co-founders – Jim Baker, Howard Carpenter, and co-chair Sue Kotzur. Fellow KRC Board member Bob Schwaiger, and one of the over 600 families of KRC, accepted the Grasshopper Award on behalf of Howard Carpenter (also KVFD founder). Along with the Grasshopper Award, Kent Recycling Center also received a 15 foot long banner covered with messages of thanks and congratulations on their achievements in moving over 350 tons of recyclables annually away from landfills and into reusable commodities.

This fun and interactive annual fundraiser of UnCorked and OnTap benefits the Camp Herrlich Scholarship Fund, which provides financial aid to over 70% of participants in summer camp and before and after school programs.
