JFK Students use Virtual Reality System with Google Expeditions

JFK students recently had their first experience with Google Expeditions.

Expeditions is an all in one virtual reality (VR) system.  The system provides the content and supporting materials that enables teachers to bring students on virtual trips to places like museums, underwater reefs, and outer space while experiencing unique parts of the world that would not otherwise be accessible.  The level of student engagement through this immersive experience is incredibly high as demonstrated in the video below.

Students in Ms. DiDio’s 1st Grade class were thrilled to go on an adventure to Antarctica and underwater to explore the coral reefs using Google Expeditions.  Using virtual reality, each student was able to see 360 degree pictures from around the world with the teacher as a guide. Google Expedition allows our students to have “The Magic School Bus” experience right in their own classroom.

We look forward to continue to expose students at all schools with this valuable learning experience.
