Village of Brewster Trustee and Chamber CEO Accused of Embezzling Funds

A statement was released on March 21, 2017 by Joseph J. Took, Counsel of The Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce reads as follows:

Erin Meagher was terminated from her employment as the CEO/Executive Director of The Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, March 21, 2017.

Evidence of larceny, fraud and embezzlement by Meagher was recently uncovered by the Executive Board volunteers of The Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce.

Meagher used the Chamber debit card as her personal slush fund to purchase her wardrobe including jewelry, dresses, Stitch Fix personal styling services. Kate Spade handbags and Ivanka Trump shoes. She even flaunted her ill-gotten apparel at Chamber and community events. She fabricated false and fraudulent invoices from Amazon in an attempt to deceive the Board of Directors.

Thanks to the due diligence of our volunteers safeguarding our Chamber members' money, we have uncovered this scheme. It is disheartening that she has stolen from the more than 390 Chamber members and has shattered the trust of our community.

Our Executive Board is working with Putnam County District Attorney Robert Tendy, Assistant District Attorney Larry Glasser and the Putnam County Sheriff Don Smith to prosecute her to the fullest extent of the law.

Any questions pertaining to this matter should be directed to Joseph J. Took of The Law Offices of Joseph J. Took, legal counsel of The Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce at 845-628-8080.

Erin E. Meagher is currently on the Board of Trustees Village of Brewster
