Letter issued by the Brewster School District regarding the August 22nd meeting

The following letter was issued by the Brewster School District regarding the August 22nd meeting:

August 23, 2017

Dear Brewster Community,

We apologize for running out of time at last night’s Town Hall Meeting thus depriving you of an opportunity to have your questions answered. This was not our intent. We didn’t want to delay having the meeting after school started because we knew that the community had an interest in discussing these two issues. Both the video and the logo are clearly important to the community and we want to make sure that we give you an opportunity to be heard.

A number of people signed a roster indicating their interest in serving on a Task Force on how to strengthen and unite the community. I have contacted this group to meet so that we can establish two more town hall meetings to give the community sufficient time to ask questions, get answers to your questions, share your ideas and make recommendations. One meeting will be dedicated to the issue of the disturbing video made by four of our recent graduates. The other meeting will be dedicated to those of you who wish to talk about the logo. During the regular Board of Education meeting last night, we assured the audience that we would suspend any further decisions about the logo until the Task Force assembles and determines its next steps.

The Task Force is scheduled to meet next Monday. After it meets, a notice will be sent to you announcing the dates and times of these two new Town Hall Meetings. The Task Force members will determine a time that is more convenient to maximize attendance.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Warmly,

Valerie Henning-Piedmonte
