Carmel Students Among More Than 300 to Receive Merit Scholarships

More than 300 new freshman and transfer students have been awarded merit scholarships to attend SUNY Oneonta beginning in the fall 2017 semester. The award amounts range from $1,000 to $8,000 per year.

The following area students received scholarships:

Joe Micale of Carmel, NY, received the Oneonta Promise in the amount of $5,000 annually. Micale, a graduate of Carmel High School, plans to major in Physics.

Julia Platt of Carmel, NY, received the Deans Scholarship in the amount of $3,000 annually. Platt, a graduate of Carmel High School, plans to major in Biology.

Located in the hills of Central New York, SUNY Oneonta is a mid-size, public, liberal arts and sciences college with a pre-professional focus. The college enrolls approximately 6,000 students in a wide variety of bachelor's degree programs and a number of graduate certificates and degrees.
