Salute to Veterans Concert: Honoring Those Who Served

Last Wednesday, November 8th, Brewster High School held its Salute to Veterans Concert at the Performing Arts Center to honor and celebrate our veterans and their families.

The BHS Choirs and Wind Ensemble performing various pieces including "Nation Emblem” , “American Salute” and the rousing “Bugle Boy”. The performance ended with “Armed Forces Salute” in which all choirs sang while the Wind Ensemble played. The piece included each military branch's official song. Veterans were asked to stand when they heard their song so the audience could show their appreciation and thanks.

Various speakers explained what Veterans Day meant to them and how it became a national holiday. Senior Class President Lea Santalis reminded us to be thankful that we don’t have to worry about our safety because of the brave people who defend our country. NJROTC member and Senior Beth Howell spoke about remembering the brave POW/MIA. The keynote speaker was Mr. Hopkins, a former Veteran, spoke about his time in the military.

All who attended were touched by the heartwarming, patriotic music and the powerful speakers.
